Disha Patani on trolls: I don’t care, I’m not uploading anything for their approval

Baaghi 2 actor Disha Patani says she used to read user comments on social media but she stopped after a point, as people would write all sorts of ‘nonsense’.

Actor Disha Patani, who is riding high on the success of her last release Baaghi 2, is not one to give it back to trolls or respond to their nasty comments on social media. She prefers to not pay heed to how people react to her videos and photos. “I don’t care what people have to say about me or their comments on my posts. I am not uploading anything for their approval. It’s just me and my world,” says the actor.

Disha Patani slammed a news channel that called her ‘ugly’ while comparing her childhood picture in school dress with her recent photos.

Like several other Bollywood stars, Disha, too, has been subjected to body shaming comments. She, however, has stopped reading them. “I don’t share much about my personal life anyway [on social media]. It’s only pictures or videos during a film’s promotion. As far as comments are concerned, I used to [read] in between, but then these guys [trolls], they really write bad stuff and nonsense, especially for girls... I don’t read them anymore,” says Disha, who has realised that trolls have nothing [better] to do in life.

“For them, commenting on other people’s profile and saying mean things makes them feel like they are greater and happier in their own world. So, that’s okay. And most of them are fake profiles,” she maintains.

While Disha has mostly stayed calm, it was earlier this year that she slammed a news channel that called her “ugly” while comparing her childhood picture in a school dress with her recent photos.

“I felt it was needed — not for me, but for all the kids who would be watching this news or looking at this picture and feel, ‘Oh, we are ugly and we don’t do makeup and hair, we don’t go [to school] in cool dresses’. No, when in school, you are supposed to look like this. If it’s ugly, it’s supposed to look ugly. You are a child and you don’t think about your hair and makeup. And that’s exactly what I tried conveying in my tweet also,” shares Disha.
