After opening at Rs 10.41 crore (including paid previews that happened late Thursday), the film has seen an upward trend on the box office - it earned Rs 13.39 crore on Saturday and collected Rs 14.74 crore on Sunday.

De De Pyaar De is now the sixth highest weekend opener of the year, toppling Vicky Kaushal’s Uri The Surgical Strike from the rank. Directed by Aditya Dhar, the Vicky Kaushal film collected Rs 35 crore in first weekend. While Akshay Kumar’s Kesari earned Rs 78 crore in three days topping the list, Ajay’s Total Dhamaal collected Rs 62 in the first weekend and stands second. Alia Bhatt-Ranveer Singh-starrer Gully Boy collected Rs 51 crore and Kangana Ranaut’s Manikarnika earned Rs 42.25 crore. Student of The Year 2 collected Rs 38.83 crore in three days.
De De Pyaar De earlier courted controversy for featuring Alok Nath, accused of rape during India’s #MeToo movement. “Everyone is aware that film-making is a collaborative process. The decision to replace Nath could never have been mine alone. In this case, I would have to go with the joint-decision of the entire unit. Not to forget, I could not have brought the entire combination of actors back or put up sets again for a 40-day re-shoot because this would mean doubling the budget, which again wasn’t my call to make. It would have to be the call of the makers. Had circumstances played out even slightly differently, I would have pushed for a different combination of actors. Unfortunately, this was not to be,” the actor had said in a statement at that time.
