Bhumi Pednekar and Ayushmann Khurrana akin to Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol?

Out of the three Bollywood films actor Bhumi Pednekar has done, she has starred with Ayushmann Khurrana in two of them — Dum Laga Ke Haisha (2015) and Shubh Mangal Saavdhan (2017). Both the films have not just done well at the box office, but also established them as a hit pair, so much so that every time they share a photo together on social media, fans wonder if they are working together again.

That happened recently too when Bhumi Instagrammed a photo and video with Ayushmann from an ad shoot, and her page was filled with queries from fans asking when the two are teaming up a movie next.

“It really feels good that the audience enjoys watching us together on-screen. We are very great friends off the screen and I feel that’s what gets reflected on screen. Also, both the films that we have done together have been content and character-based. That’s the reason why they’ve worked,” she says.

But the question remains — has she taken up any new project starring Ayushmann? “We won’t do something generic. The story needs to be interesting. Our sensibilities match, which is why there is a comfort level. We enjoy working with each other,” adds Bhumi.

However, does she, at all, feel that too many films with Ayushmann might make their pairing an overkill? “Why will it? I don’t think it will and I also hope not. Kabhi Kajol-Shah Rukh [Khan] se koi paka hai?” she laughs.

Besides Ayushmann, Bhumi has worked with Akshay Kumar in Toilet: Ek Prem Katha (2017), which was a hit. She is currently busy shooting for Abhishek Chaubey’s upcoming dacoit drama, Son Chiriya, opposite Sushant Singh Rajput.
