Batti Gul Meter Chalu song Gold Tamba has Shahid Kapoor wooing Shraddha Kapoor at a mela
Batti Gul Meter Chalu’s first song Gold Tamba has Shahid Kapoor’s electric dance moves as Shraddha Kapoor plays his love interest.
Shahid Kapoor on Friday shared Batti Gul Meter Chalu’s first song. The song, titled Gold Tamba, is the same on that was used most prominently in the film’s trailer. Featuring leads Shahid and Shraddha Kapoor, the song is sung by Nakash Aziz and composed by Anu Malik. The lyrics are penned by Siddharth & Garima.
The two-and-a-half minute video is set at a mela in Uttarakhand, and has Shahid’s character serenading Shraddha, who seems to be playing hard to get. The lyrics - ‘When you getting gold why go for tamba,’ and ‘when you getting Gabbar why go for Sambha,’ and ‘when you getting Rambo why go for Rambha,’ - are examples of how Shahid’s character woos her.
Batti Gul Meter Chalu is directed by Shree Narayan Singh, and is expected to be in the same vein as his previous directorial effort, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, a drama with a social message at its centre. This time, the focus is on the illegal theft of electricity in certain Indian states.
Shahid plays a local lad whose best friend commits suicide after his business is impacted by the corruption in the electricity departments. To avenge his friend’s death, he becomes a lawyer. Speaking at the film’s trailer launch, Shahid said, “The issue is bigger then the film...the film is just a method to bring it to forefront.”
The film also stars Yami Gautam and Divyendu Sharma. It is slated for a September 21 release.
