Ayushmann Khurrana on his style: I am a sucker for those quirky bow ties

Ayushmann Khurrana is known for his cool and quirky fashion sensibilities. The actor has always been willing to experiment with his wardrobe and ably pulled off various looks with poise. Here’s a quick chat with the Dum Laga Ke Haisha actor, where he talks about his personal style, HT Most Stylish awards, and more…

What is that you most like about the event, HT Most Stylish awards? And how has your association been with the awards?

It’s a yearly gratification for all the style conscious artistes. This is my second time at HT style awards. First time was fun and fabulous.

How would you define your personal style?

My style is quirk in classic. I like wearing basics (outfits) but I like to add one quirky element in the ensemble.

Do you like to experiment with your wardrobe?

I do experiment a lot. Last year was the year of experimentation since I was touring with my band. I sported a man bun and also tried a nose ring. In fact, it was for HT’s Kala Ghoda Festival that I had sported the look for the first time.

Are you updated about fashion trends? Do you believe in following any fashion fads?

I’m a fashion conscious person but I’m not a victim of fashion. I follow a lot of trends and couture handles on Instagram. But at the end of the day, I follow what suits my personality. Your style could either be the extension of your personality or could be an alter ego. In either of the cases, it should just suit you for sure.

What is your favourite accessory?

I’m a sucker for bow ties. The kind of quirky bow ties are running these days - you’re just tempted to wear them even while you sleep.

And, what is your most prized possession in your wardrobe?

My series of white shoes! They demand love and care.

Tell us one style tip that you’d like to give youngsters…

Be yourself. Don’t be a victim of fashion. Follow your heart along with trends, in that order.

What’s your favourite dictum as far as style is concerned?

The right fit and the right spirit along with sense of aesthetics can make you a style icon.
