Anurag hits back: Siddharth Kara is delusional

Kara has filed a defamation and copyright infringement case against Kashyap and several others. In the lawsuit, Kara alleges that the script of the film Sold, "has several substantial similarities to unique and creative elements present in my (Siddharth Kara) script and book ( Sex Trafficking: Inside the Business of Modern Slavery)."

Kara has said that Anurag read his script, and later helped the film’s production team to find shoot locations in India. However, the 41-year-old filmmaker has hit back strongly at Kara’s comments and said, "Dr Kara is delusional. When I don’t steal anyone else’s script, why would I pass someone’s script to someone else to steal?"

Kara has named producer Guneet Monga and actor Nandita Das alongside the film’s director Jefferey D Brown and producer Jane Charles, in the case. The film revolves around human trafficking, and parts of it have been shot in Kolkata.

"I guess Dr. Kara has probably written only one thing in life and he thinks no one else in the world would be working on the subject of human trafficking. He is just desperate to find some connection to all films based on the subject," said Kashyap, explaining his side of the story. The case has been filed in Delhi HC.
