As Shweta Nanda made her acting debut, father Amitabh Bachchan was a proud but emotional daddy. Here is what happened.

Amitabh Bachchan believes, and preaches, that daughters are the best. Anyone who is even remotely aware of the actor’s social media presence would know of his admiring tweets about daughter Shweta Nanda. And now that Shweta has made her screen debut, the proud daddy can barely contain his excitement.

Shweta and Amitabh have shared the screen in a jewellery ad for a brand Amitabh endorses. Amitabh had earlier shared images and details of the TV ad but now the real deal is here. Sharing the TV commercial on Twitter, he simply wrote, “Emotional.”

Soon, Shweta also shared the TVC and wrote, “From our ad! @SrBachchan you’re my safety net for life. You made this so seamless for me! I loved going to work with you! Thank you xx.” Amitabh, it seemed, could no longer hold back his emotions and added, “Emotional moment for me .. tears welling up every time I see it .. daughters are the BEST !!”

Talking about why she is not an actor, Shweta had written earlier in her blog, “There is something about ‘Start sound, camera, action’ that makes me freeze up and garble my speech like I have a mouth full of marbles. Being an actor and a successful one at that, is the stuff fairy-tales are made of, as you reach unimaginable heights. But it is a tough world and most people do not realise the personal sacrifices made to get to these lofty positions. A lot of my life has been shaped by these very sacrifices made by my parents.”

She added that it was not a decision imposed on her, “Let’s just say I chickened out, learning very early on what being in the business meant for me, I chose to live away from its glitter and glamour. This was MY decision, not one thrust on me from any member of my family because of my gender.”

While Shweta is busy working on her memoirs, Amitabh will be seen in Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmastra. The film also stars Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor. He is also shooting for Thugs of Hindostan with Aamir Khan and Katrina Kaif.
