Alia Bhatt’s Hook Up song from Student of the Year 2 gets mixed response, Twitter asks why so sexist
Alia Bhatt and Tiger Shroff’s Hook Up song received a mixed response from viewers on Twitter. Here are some of the reactions to the song.
Actor Alia Bhatt, who made her Bollywood debut with Student of the Year, returned for a special song in the sequel. Titled Hook Up song, the romantic dancer number has Student of the Year 2 actor Tiger Shroff romancing Alia in an intimate setting. However, the internet users have expressed mixed reactions to the number.
Alia can be seen showing off pole dancing skills while being dressed in a satin night dress in the song as she grooves to Vishal-Shekhar’s foot-tapping music. Sung by Neha Kakkar, the song found favour among many for Alia’s glamourous avatar but several social media users also turned it down by calling it sexist.
A user responded to the song, “How many girls does Tiger has to hook up in this movie!! It’s 2019 and we still have sexist flicks like this #HookUpSong #SOTY2 #StudentOfTheYear2.”
Several viewers also called out producer Karan Johar for coming up with such a song. A user tweeted, “@karanjohar s contribution to music .. #breakupsong and #HookUpSong ... and soon to come #suckupsong and F*ckupsong...#StudentOfTheYear2.” Another wrote, “@karanjohar is that coffe wid Karan set #SOTY2 #HookUpSong.” One more user tweeted, “What has happened to @karanjohar & @aliaa08 ? The #HookUpSong wasn’t worth waiting for. Aliaa changed clothes in a jiffy but had the same shoes on for the most part of the song lol. Dancing pole in a bed room seriously? #SOTY2 is about everything but not about students.”
Some also turned down the film even before its release while comparing it to Karan’s latest release, Kalank. A user wrote, “#Kalank: I am the worst disaster of 2019” #SOTY2: “Hold my beer...” And funnily, both have Alia and both produced by @karanjohar #AliaBhatt #TigerShroff #HookUpSong #StudentOfTheYear2.”
A user also raised a question over why there are no other singers on the block. “Can we please hear a different voice now? Tired of hearing #NehaKakkar. No complaints with her singing and happy for her career (in fact she was my fav indian idol contestant) but I forgot when was the last party song not sung by her! #HookUpSong #HauliHauli,” wrote a user.
