Aamir plays a wrestler in Dangal but you won’t see him in langot
Instead, while playing wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat in the upcoming film, Aamir Khan plans to delve into the psyche of his character.
Aamir Khan may be playing the role of a Haryanvi wrestler in Dangal but you won’t get to see him in a langot, a la Salman Khan in Sultan. “When you see the film, you’ll realise there is no need for me to wear the langot.”
Instead, while playing wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat in the upcoming film, Aamir Khan plans to delve into the psyche of his character. In fact, the actor says the Nitesh Tiwari film is essentially a human story of a father fighting for his daughters’ dreams with wrestling as the backdrop.

“It is a film about human struggle and emotions. Also, it is an entertaining one. It shows the struggles of Phogat and his daughters Geeta and Babita, but does so in a lighter tone. That way, Nitesh (director) is similar to Raju Hirani. These are serious subjects dealt with in a light manner so you are not bored,” Aamir said in Ludhiana on Thursday.
He also said that the 90% of the wrestling in Dangal shows his onscreen daughters fighting it out and only 10% of the scenes show Aamir in the ring.

The team of Dangal is currently shooting the last few sequences of the film in Ludhiana. When the production house took us on a tour of the sets in Leel village, 30km off Ludhiana, it was all about heat, dirt and hard work.
Two films this year will have the Khans – Aamir and Salman – playing wrestlers, comparisons are bound to happen. Aamir kept it diplomatic while he talks about his Sultan colleague.
“Salman is the original bodybuilder and I have always been a huge fan. I just try matching up to him. I think he is way better than me as a body builder, he has been doing this for years.” Sultan is set for theatrical release this Eid.

Aamir, who is known for his 100% commitment towards all his film, also refuted rumours that he had signed a film where he plays Rakesh Sharma. “I haven’t signed any film. I do one movie at a time and at least till December, Dangal is all I have on my mind.” Dangal will release on December 23.
Sakshi Tanwar plays Mahavir’s wife and Fatima Sana Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra essay the roles of Mahavir’s daughters -- Geeta Phogat and Babita Kumari -- in the film.
