Bhopal: BU seeks info sought by STF from BPEd colleges
It appears that the BU administration does not go beyond giving affiliation to private colleges that run BPed courses as the university has asked the private colleges to give information of their affiliation to the NCTE.
It appears that the Barkatullah University administration does not go beyond giving affiliation to private colleges that run physical education courses.

After the Special Task Force (STF) directed the Barkatullah University (BU) administration to furnish information about physical education colleges in detail, the academic section of the university is busy collecting the details from the private colleges themselves, making its amply clear that it does not have the data itself.
BU administration has asked the private colleges to give information of their affiliation to the National Council for Teachers Education (NCTE), the strength of teachers, their qualifications and pay scale.
The varsity does not even have information on the number of students enrolled in the bachelor of physical education (BPed) courses. The university has given a two-day deadline to the private colleges to respond, which many believe would enable them to cover for their incompetence.
"This is highly objectionable. BU academics section should have all the details of affiliated private colleges," said a BU official, on condition of anonymity.
"If academic section doesn't have information whether a private college has affiliation with (the) NCTE or not and it doesn't have information whether the colleges are fulfilling all norms, what is the need of having academic section in the university," he said.
"BU is going to hold BPed examination from October 30 without ensuring that students, who are enrolled for the course, have all the qualification for this course because BPed is not a simple course. It is a course for becoming sports teacher in the schools," he added.
BU administration defended itself, saying that university's work is only to give affiliation and organise examination and not to maintain data. "(The) university follows NCTE. The university administration inspects only at the time of giving affiliation and most of the colleges are at least 7-8 year-old, so we don’t have latest information," said LS Solanki, the registrar of BU.
"The university has all the information which it requires to organise examinations. The other details, which the STF has asked to furnish, we don't have," he added. He, however, said that the university has received information from the colleges and it would be submitted to the STF on Thursday.
