Punjab and Haryana high court’s order comes after it was revealed that a wrong affidavit was filed by Talwandi Sabo DSP Ishan Singla that statement of a key person linked to the case had been recorded and filed with the challan. When cops realised about the goof-up, a supplementary challan was filed.

Punjab and Haryana high court: Extend tenure of consumer panel members in both states, UT

In 2023, the Tricity Consumer Court Bar Association had moved court seeking a direction to the UT administration for filling up the vacancies of members of state/district consumer disputes redressal commission. It had also demanded that present members be allowed to continue till the time fresh appointments are made.

The high court ordered that within two months respective government/ administration would approach the Supreme Court to seek clarification/appropriate orders to initiate the process of fresh appointments, and once clarification comes, selection process should be completed within four months.

Central govt yet to release 250 cr, Punjab tells HC

The Punjab government has said that the Centre is yet to release ₹250 crore as its share under the Ayushman Bharat scheme. The government has also told the court that only 46 crore is pending amount which is to be paid to the hospitals.

Punjab saw spurt in extortion cases post Bishnoi interview, police tell high court

According to Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav, the state saw 300 extortion and threat call cases in the nine months prior to the interview. The number climbed to 324 in the corresponding period thereafter.

The police submitted its affidavit in the wake of high court seeking details of criminal cases, especially those relating to extortion/threat calls, calls for ransom, abduction and intimidation of witnesses in the state during the 18-month period.
