U.P. looks to improve mulberry cultivation as silk exports grow by leaps and bounds

At present, the state is only able to fulfil a little more than one-tenth of its annual demand of 3,000 metric tons. To meet the rest, it depends on silk supplied by other states and countries.

While mulberry silk is produced mainly in Saharanpur, Kushinagar, Deoria, Etawah, Auraiya and Unnao, tussar silk (also made from silkworms) is produced in Sonbhadra, Jhansi and Lalitpur districts (Sourced)

As many as 300 theatre artistes, including 150 from Kashi, will recreate the valour of Maratha ruler Chhatrapati Veer Shivaji Maharaj through historical play ‘Jaanta Raja’ (visionary king) to be staged on Amphitheatre ground, BHU from November 21 to 26.

PM Modi lays foundation stone of first international cricket stadium in Varanasi

The stadium will be built in a 30-acre area at a cost of Rs.450 crore. The Uttar Pradesh government said that it has spent Rs.121 crore to acquire the land for the stadium, while the BCCI will spend Rs.330 crore on its construction. The stadium is likely to be completed by December 2025

UAE-bound first consignment of banana plant products flagged off from Varanasi

The Agricultural & Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) has facilitated the first-ever consignment of banana plant products from Varanasi to the UAE by air, boosting agricultural exports. APEDA plans to integrate more farmer producer organizations into the export supply chain. The Purvanchal region has seen a surge in demand for its perishable products, leading to a 248% increase in agricultural product exports in Q1 2022-23 compared to the same period last year. The region has become a preferred export destination for horticultural products, catering to Gulf countries, European nations, Nepal, and Bangladesh.

ASI survey of Gyanvapi begins under police vigil

A team of 41 officials from the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has started a survey of the Gyanvapi Masjid premises in Varanasi. The survey, which includes measuring the area and collecting soil samples, was approved by the Allahabad high court and aims to determine if the 17th-century mosque was built on a Hindu temple. The survey will continue on Saturday and is expected to help resolve the long-standing dispute between Hindus and Muslims over the site. The ASI team used advanced equipment and took photographs and videos as part of the survey.

Modi kicks off projects in Chattisgarh, UP blitz
