MP Mahua Moitra’s lawyer opts out of defamation case

A case involving allegations of parliamentary impropriety and corruption in India took a bizarre turn as it became a battle over a pet dog. Lawyer Jai Anant Dehadrai claimed that a lawyer representing Lok Sabha member Mahua Moitra offered him the return of his dog in exchange for withdrawing his complaint against Moitra. The court questioned the lawyer's eligibility to represent Moitra and he subsequently withdrew from the case. The case will be heard again on October 31. The focus on the dog, named Henry, overshadowed the serious allegations made against Moitra.
