Third man accused of torturing truck driver held in Rajasthan’s Barmer

Bharat Singh, Moti Singh, Hinglaj Dan were arrested over four days after a video of them assaulting the Muslim man, who drives a truck for a living, for allegedly stealing a mobile phone went viral on social media on February 20.

Barmer’s superintendent of police, Sharad Choudhary, confirmed the arrest of the man identified as Bharat Singh.

22-yr-old man thrashed, brutalised on suspicion of stealing a mobile phone

The incident comes close on the heels of another horrific incident from Nagaur where a Dalit man was brutally tortured as screwdriver dipped in petrol was inserted into his body.

Station house officer at Barmer rural police station Deep Singh confirmed the report and said a case of kidnapping, torture, manhandling and insertion of iron bar into the victim’s body has been lodged.

13 Thai Buddhist monks, going to Pakistan, stopped in Rajasthan’s Barmer

Under the foreigners’ act, the entry of foreign nationals is restricted areas of Barmer district. They have to get the district administration’s nod to enter these areas, according to the act.

Naresh Soni, tehsildar of Pachpadra and executive magistrate, who heard the bail applications of two others arrested with Goliya, said he ordered the police to take the man to hospital first.

Goliya of Kawas town had an ancestral property in Sarana village under Pachpadra police station.
