PSPCL to set up 1,320-MW power plant at Mukerian
The Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) has taken in-principle decision to set up a super-critical thermal-based power plant at Hajipur in Mukerian town of Hoshiarpur district. Recently, a team of the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) had cleared the project site. The acquisition of 900 acres is expected to start soon.

Wheat procurement falls in Punjab by 16%, rises 50% in UP
Wheat procurement in punjab was recorded at 11 million tonnes in the current rabi season, which is a decline of 16% over last season’s procurement of 12.8 million tonnes. In the country as a whole, procurement fell from 38.2 million tonnes in 2011-12 to 27 million tonnes, of which Punjab has contributed 40%, in the current season.

There may have been a drastic fall in wheat procurement in Punjab, but the state still tops the chart nationally. The state's contribution to the national pool is 40%, the highest among all wheat-producing. DSGMC suspends Sarna's aide
Following reports of multi-crore bungling of funds of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC), the committee has suspended general manager Ram Singh (55). Ram Singh joined the DSGMC as a clerk and came close to Paramjit Singh Sarna when the latter took over as the committee president for the first time in 2000.
