Delhi’s 7th sero survey to begin Friday, check infection and vaccination status

The survey, which was initially to take place over the first two weeks of August, was delayed. All data will be captured digitally during the survey, making compilation and data analysis easier, said officials. Sero surveys are blood tests that check for antibodies to the virus. They are a good measure of the exposure of a population to the virus

Seventh sero survey likely to begin in the Capital this week

The seventh survey will be conducted when nearly three out of four of Delhi’s adult population have received at least one dose of a vaccine against Covid-19, and one in three have been fully vaccinated.

Serological surveys are used by epidemiologists to determine the prevalence of a disease in a population.

Slight uptick as dengue cases crosses 200-mark in Delhi

Delhi recorded 211 cases and no deaths due to the viral infection till Saturday, according to the weekly report released by the municipal corporations on Monday.

Delhi hospital reports 5 cases of gall bladder gangrene after Covid recovery

Timely surgery along with antifungal medicines lifesaving for mucormycosis patients

Mucormycosis is a rare and deadly fungal infection that usually happens in immunocompromised patients such as those who have cancer or have had transplant surgery. It usually happens in the nose and eye and results in death of tissue resulting in a black discolouration.

Plan for 1,300 beds at LHMC’s kalawati saran child hospital

Senior officials from the hospital said the plan, which has been submitted to the Union health ministry , will see more beds coming up in a new building in the hospital.

Ivermectin doesn’t cut viral load in Covid-19 patients, AIIMS study shows

The antiparasitic medicine Ivermectin did not reduce the viral load or duration of symptoms in patients with Covid-19 even at higher doses, shows a randomised controlled trial in 157 patients admitted with mild to moderate disease at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) during the first surge of infections between July and September last year

Experts call for reopening of schools

Last year, 167 countries across the world had implemented measures like lockdowns and school closures to prevent transmission of a virus not very well understood at the time. Most countries re-opened schools slowly.
