Say hello to ‘Hello’: Orkut’s new offering

Hello, a new social media platform, has taken a page each from the playbooks of existing rivals Snapchat, Instagram and Pinterest. Founded by Orkut Büyükkökten, maker of social media firm Orkut in early 2000s before it was killed by Facebook, Hello bets on “love” as opposed to “likes”, which is the most desired social media expression popularized by Facebook.

A phone at Rs 251! The math behind Ringing Bells’ smartphone pricing

You may not have heard of a company named Ringing Bells, but you must have definitely seen full-page advertisements about the smartphone Freedom 251 in newspapers. Everyone is wondering how the company led by Mohit Goel actually sell a smartphone for just Rs 251. We don’t know either. HT spoke to Goel and tried to understand some logical reasons behind the pricing.

The company has also brought out a few accessories with the phone which inlcudes snap-on rear case in variations of karbon, bamboo, rosewood or black apricot, a sandstone case, a flip cover in black, gray or sand, a tempered glass screen protector, a Dash Charge USB Type-C cable, a dash charge power adaptor and a dash charge car charger. But all these accessories will have to be bought separately.
