Prashna Panchali seeks to present the lesser explored Draupadi’s take on the Mahabharata. It’s a solo act performed by seasoned thespian Preeta Mathur Thakur, who is both the actor and narrator. She will not only enact the role of Draupadi but also the other characters.

Preeta will bring alive a collection of 22 poems, penned nearly a decade ago, by noted writer Sunita Buddhiraja. The play portrays the epic war that drove Draupadi to question the choices she made. “The play questions whether life is simply an endless search for deeper meanings, inner values, or answers of cosmic questions,” Preeta says. “It also makes one wonder if there are any answers to this, and if at all there are, where may one find them.”
Says Dinesh Thakur, the play’s director, “What triggered this play is the shameful condition of women in our country. My interaction in this solo performance is limited, so music and lights play a major role. The music by Amod Bhatt is soulful and will stay with the audience for days.”
