2016 in comics: Will virtual reality change the way we live?

How close are we to entirely living in an alternate reality?

2016 was a big year for technology that supported alternate reality. We saw the launch of Pokémon Go - an augmented reality game that took the world by storm. But the one space where India witnessed spectacular growth was virtual reality (VR). A recent Goldman Sachs report says the VR market will touch $30 billion (Rs 2,00,444 crore) by 2020. We even witnessed our first VR film - filmmaker Anand Gandhi’s Right to Pray. It was screened at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in September, 2016.

But, if Netflix’s Black Mirror is any indication, are we dangerously close to a world where VR slowly takes over our life as we know it?
