Surprising NASA facts about the Kuiper Belt

Kuiper Belt is a huge, icy region beyond Neptune, filled with frozen worlds and secrets of our solar system.

Pluto and Arrokoth live in the Kuiper Belt.

Scientists believe the Kuiper Belt holds millions of icy objects left from our solar system’s birth.

Some call it the Edgeworth-Kuiper Belt, the Trans-Neptunian Region, or just the Kuiper Belt.

It is one of the largest parts of our solar system, along with the Oort Cloud and Jupiter’s magnetosphere.

Neptune’s gravity kept the Kuiper Belt’s objects from joining together into a single large planet.

The Kuiper Belt starts at 30 AU from the Sun and extends to about 50 AU. Some objects go even farther.

NASA continues to study this icy region, revealing new secrets about our solar system.
