NASA has announced that the astronauts will return to Earth on Tuesday, March 18 in the evening (GMT).

Butch Wilmore and Sunita Williams have been on the ISS since June last year.

They will travel back to Earth aboard a SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft, along with two other crew members.

The astronauts were supposed to return on the Boeing Starliner, but propulsion problems made it unsafe.

Wilmore and Williams were only supposed to stay for a short time, but the technical issue kept them in space for months.

NASA says their spacecraft will splash down off the Florida coast at 5:57 pm Florida time on March 18.
