Jyoti was born on 16 December 1993. Her mother says she looked like other children until the age of five.

Her height is due to achondroplasia, a form of dwarfism.

In 2009, Jyoti was recognised as the world’s shortest living teenager at just 61.95 cm tall.

In 2011, she was measured again- this time at 62.8 cm- and officially became the shortest woman living.
