5 tips to keep in mind when exercising outdoors in winters

It is important to keep yourself physically active during winters. However, the cold temperatures can make it challenging to exercise in the open. Here are 5 ways to protect yourself from the winter chill when exercising outdoors.

Warm-up

The cold temperatures can cause muscles to tighten which can lead to injuries and pain. It is essential to dedicate a few minutes to adequately warm your body before starting a work-out.

Dressing appropriately using layers

Layering is key during the winter season. Opt for clothes which help keep the sweat away, provide warmth, and protection against the wind.

Stay hydrated

It is important to drink water before, during, and after your workout session as the cold air can cause dehydration.

Wear protective gears

Opt for protective winter accessories such as a headband, cap or gloves to protect your head and ears from the cold.

Post work-out recovery

It is crucial to perform stretches after your workout to help relax your muscles and prevent stiffness and injuries.
