If the mission is successful, India will be the fourth country after the United States, Russia and China to land successfully on the lunar surface

The Chandrayaan-3 mission is aimed to conduct a study of the lunar soil, explore the moon's surface with a rover and record moon quakes

The Vikram lander is named after Dr Vikram A Sarabhai, the father of the Indian Space Programme. It is expected to soft-land and deploy the rover to carry out in-situ chemical analysis of the lunar surface
