Chandrayaan-3 landing on Moon: Date, where to watch

Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) launched Chandrayaan-3, India's third lunar mission from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota on July 14, 2023

Chandrayaan-3 is expected to touch down upon the lunar surface on August 23, 2023. Here's everything you need to know about the historic event

ISRO announced that Chandrayaan-3 is expected to land on the moon's south pole on August 23 at 18:04 Hrs IST

The monumental event of the landing will be streamed live on the ISRO website, YouTube, Facebook and Doordarshan National TV

On August 21, ISRO tweeted a series of pictures of the Lunar far side area captured by the Chandrayan-3 Vikram Lander camera. Here's what was written in the Tweet

Earlier, ISRO also updated the health of the Lander Module (LM) of Chandrayaan-3 through a tweet

According to the tweet, the Chandrayaan-3 mission underwent the second and final deboosting operation that brought the Lander closer to the Moon

The lander is named after Dr Vikram A Sarabhai, the father of the Indian Space Programme

Vikram Lander will undergo internal checks and await sunrise at the designated site before the final landing

The third lunar mission is a follow-up of the Chandrayaan-2 mission which failed a calculated soft landing on the lunar surface in September 2019
