The universe is home to captivating cosmic formations including stars and nebulae which are a visual treat. Here are 10 breathtaking images of stars and nebulae captured by NASA.

This stunning image shows the Caldwell 20 nebula, also known as the North America nebula, featuring a cloud of ionised gas.

This spectacular image by NASA's WISE telescope shows three nebulae, featuring Flame Nebula, the Horsehead Nebula, and NGC 2023.

This spectacular image shows the Wolf Rayet nebula which is located 30,000 light-years away. It features a giant bubble surrounding bright stars.

This amazing image is of a 100 million-year-old globular cluster NGC 1850 in the Large Magellanic Cloud, a satellite galaxy of the Milky Way.

This striking image shows the Christmas Tree Cluster, home to a bundle of young stars, located 2,500 light-years from Earth.

This mesmerising image is of a cluster of huge, hot stars called NGC 3603, surrounded by clouds of interstellar gas and dust.

This gorgeous Hubble image shows colourful clouds of gas and dust in the Lagoon Nebula, located 4,000 light-years away from Earth.

This beautiful image is of the N44 nebula surrounded by glowing hydrogen gas, dust and massive stars. The image shows a starry gap called "superbubble" formed by gas and dust in the nebula.

This captivating image shows a knot of gas and dust formed due to ultraviolet radiation blasting from bright stars.

Here's a marvellous infrared view of the Tarantula Nebula. The image shows a cluster of more than 800,000 stars and protostars embedded inside the nebula.
