10 tips to manage time during an exam by Oxford Royale

Know what you’re up against before you appear for the exam. It is also advisable not to leap in without knowing what to do during the exam

Practise writing quickly. Students need to practice answering the questions quickly with legible handwriting to score better

Be realistic. Students need to plan or chart out a way to answer questions with the time available during the exam

Read every question carefully. Students appearing for an exam need to calm their nerves and read every question properly to avoid any last-minute nightmares

Divide your time up. Before starting an exam, students need to read the questions and understand how much time is needed to be assigned for each question

Start with something you can really do. It is always a smart move to start with the questions that you are able to quickly answer first rather than wasting your time on the difficult ones

Plan long answers. Answering essay answers needs to be properly planned. Students need to be clear with the introduction, body and conclusion of the answer to score better

Do not panic. It is natural to go blank when things do not go in your favour during an exam. Try not to panic and keep yourself cool to be able to think properly for a plan B at such times

Ask for new scripts before you need them. If you are running short of space to answer the questions, make it a point to ask for new sheets beforehand so that you can keep up with the pace of the answer writing

Don’t leave early. It is always a good idea to go through your answers again and check for any errors after you have completed your exam
