GDP (Gross Domestic Product) measures the total goods and services a country produces each year.

According to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) here are the world’s poorest countries.

South Sudan ranks as the poorest country, with a GDP per capita of $960.24.

Burundi follows closely with a GDP per capita of $1,010.

With a GDP per capita of $1,310, the Central African Republic takes the third spot.

Malawi has a GDP per capita of $1,760, making it the fourth poorest.

Mozambique ranks fifth with a GDP per capita of $1,790.

Somalia comes next with a GDP per capita of $1,900.

Congo’s GDP per capita stands at $1,910, ranking it seventh.

Liberia’s GDP per capita is $2,000, placing it eighth.
