Discover the coldest city in 2025 with 7 chilling facts

Planet Earth has some freezing places. But where is the coldest city in the world?

According to BBC, the coldest temperature ever recorded was -93.2°C (-135.76°F) at Dome Fuji, Antarctica.

The coldest city in the world is Yakutsk in Siberia, Russia.

On 5 February 1891, Yakutsk recorded its lowest temperature -64.4°C.

During January, the average low temperature is -42°C (-43.6°F), with the city getting less than four hours of sunlight per day.

Yakutsk has a population of 3,55,000 people, just less than New Orleans, USA.

Even though Yakutsk is the coldest city, it’s not the closest to the North Pole.

In winter, Siberia has a high-pressure system called the Siberian High. It brings cold Arctic air, causing long periods of freezing temperatures.
