5 things astronauts cannot do on International Space Station

Life on the International Space Station (ISS) is very different from life on Earth. Let's explore five things astronauts can't do up there.

Astronauts can't walk like we do on Earth because there's no gravity to hold them down. They float and move by pushing off surfaces.

Tears don't fall on the ISS because there's no gravity. Instead, they stick to the astronauts' eyes, making it difficult to cry normally.

Water doesn't flow in space like it does on Earth. Astronauts use special wipes and rinseless shampoo to stay clean.

Cooking with fire is impossible in space because of the lack of gravity and the risk of a fire hazard. Astronauts eat pre-packaged meals.

Astronauts can't lie down to sleep because they float. They sleep in sleeping bags attached to the walls to stay in one place.

Water is precious on the ISS, so astronauts can't waste it. They use recycled water and limit their water usage as much as possible.

The ISS is a small space, so astronauts don't have much privacy. They can use small sleeping pods to have some alone time.

In microgravity, astronauts can't move freely. They have to be careful not to bump into equipment or other crew members.

Life on the ISS is full of challenges, but astronauts adapt to these differences to carry out their important missions in space.
