5 NASA images of distorted galaxy shaped like a question mark

Astronomers using NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope have found a cosmic question mark, the result of a rare alignment across light-years of space.

The galaxy's unusual distortion has sparked interest among space scientists.

While this region has been observed previously with NASA’s Hubble Space telescope, the dusty red galaxy that forms the intriguing question-mark shape only came into view with James Web Space telescope.

These images offer rare insights into galaxy structures and cosmic phenomena.

Astronomers studied this massive galaxy cluster, which acts like a cosmic magnifying glass.

The galaxy cluster MACS-J0417.5-1154 is so massive that it warps space-time, creating the gravitational lensing effect.

This rare alignment between galaxies, the lens, and the observer creates the unusual shape.

Here's a beautiful image of a collision of two galaxies, captured by NASA's Hubble Space telescope.

This colourful and vibrant image is a composite view of the active galaxy Messier 82.

This magnificent image of a moderately luminous spiral galaxy, ESP 021-G004 was captured 130 million light-years away from Earth.
