Justin Langer, Stephen Fleming: 5 contenders who can become India's next head coach

As Rahul Dravid's tenure as India's head coach for the men's (senior) cricket team inches closer to an end, BCCI is on the hunt for a new leader. Here are the top five candidates who could be the next head coach.

Stephen Fleming

The former New Zealand skipper is the head coach for Chennai Super Kings. Under his leadership, CSK has won 5 IPL titles and 2 Champions League T20 trophies. 

Justin Langer

The former Australian men's head coach, Langer, is credited with leading the team to win 2 Ashes trophies and lift the 2021 T20 World Cup trophy. He is currently the coach for the IPL team Lucknow Super Giants.

VVS Laxman

 Under Laxman's leadership, India has contested the Asian Games and bilateral T20Is against Australia, England, New Zealand, and Ireland. He is currently the head of the National Cricket Academy.

 Gautam Gambhir

 Gautam Gambhir is among the frontrunners in the hunt for Team India's next head coach. He is currently mentoring Kolkata Knight Riders, which became the first team to qualify for the playoffs in IPL 2024.

Ricky Ponting

 Ponting has been the head coach of Delhi Capitals since 2021. He has also mentored Mumbai Indians previously and served as the assistant coach for Australia for the 2019 World Cup.
