Your thyroid glands are located in your neck. They control hormone production and help keep your blood pressure, temperature, heart rate, and metabolism in check. 

It is essential to maintain your thyroid health to prevent hormonal problems such as hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid) and hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid).

Here are some tips to maintain a healthy thyroid.

Eat a balanced diet

Consuming a nutritious and a balanced diet is essential to promote thyroid health. You can eat iodine-rich foods like seaweed, fish and dairy. You can also include selenium and zinc rich foods such as nuts, seeds and legumes in your diet.

Exercise regularly

Regular physical exercise can help boost metabolism and regulate hormone levels. You can do cardiovascular workouts, strength training and flexibility exercises.

Manage stress

Chronic stress can impact your thyroid function negatively. Practice stress-relieving activities such as yoga, meditation, deep breathing exercises and hobbies to maintain healthy cortisol levels.

Maintain a healthy sleep hygiene

Getting an adequate amount of sleep is crucial to improve thyroid functioning. Aim for 7 to 9 hours of sleep to support hormone production and metabolism.
