Ganesh Chaturthi 2023: 5 traditional dishes to enjoy

Ganesh Chaturthi will begin on September 19 this year and conclude on September 28 with Ganesh Visarjan

Here are five traditional dishes that you should make at your home to celebrate the festival

Ukadiche modak

Ukadiche modak is a traditional Maharashtrian sweet, steamed dumplings with coconut and jaggery stuffing. You can also try variations of modak like chocolate modak, dry fruits modak, chana dal modak and many more

 Puran Poli 

Puran Poli is an Indian sweet bread made from a mixture of gram dal (chana dal) and jaggery. Serve it hot with loads of desi ghee 

Gavhachi Kheer 

Gavhachi Kheer is a must-have during Ganesh Chaturthi. It is made with broken whole wheat grains, milk and jaggery or sugar

 Katachi Amti 

It is a spicy and tangy dish made with chana dal. It is flavoured with goda masala, a unique Maharashtrian masala that has peanuts, cloves, sesame seeds, peppercorns, stone flowers and plenty of red chillies

Coconut laddu

It is a popular sweet made with condensed milk, coconut, jaggery and dry fruits
