5 tips to protect yourself from scam calls

Mobile phones are important for communication but scammers and cyber criminals can misuse this medium to deceive users through fraud calls and scam messages.

Here are some tips to protect yourself from scam and fraud calls.

Avoid sharing personal details

Scammers can ask you about your personal details such as your name, date of birth and bank account details. Avoid sharing such details with anyone over the phone as it can enable them to access your bank account.

Avoid sharing OTP

Never share the One Time Password (OTP) with anyone on a phone call. The scammer can use the OTP to access your bank account and process transactions.

Avoid picking up suspicious calls

Usually, scam calls can be identified by their distinctive phone number. Avoid picking up suspicious calls if the numbers appear unusual. 

Download caller identifying apps

You can download applications on your mobile phone that identify the caller's registered name to avoid scam calls. 

Report scam calls

It is very important to report scam calls to the concerned authorities. Reporting calls will automatically block the scammer from calling you. The concerned authorities will take strict action against such fraud callers and scammers.
