5 tips to get rid of constipation in winters

Constipation is a common problem in the winter season due to less water consumption and low intake of fibre-rich foods. Here are some tips to get rid of constipation in winters.

Stay hydrated

The cold weather can lead to reduced consumption of water which further leads to constipation. Make sure to have an adequate amount of water even in the winter season to improve bowel movements and prevent bloating.

Eat fibre-rich foods

Reduced intake of fibre-rich foods during the winter season can lead to constipation. Consume a fibre-rich diet with foods such as vegetables, fruits, dried fruits and whole grains to ease constipation.

Reduce caffeine intake

Increased intake of hot caffeinated drinks in winters such as coffee and tea can cause constipation. Instead, you can drink hot water to keep yourself hydrated and prevent constipation.

Exercise

Low physical movement and activity is one of the main causes of health problems in winters. Practice yoga or exercise on a regular basis to promote digestion and prevent constipation.

Consume healthy spices

Add spices like carom seeds (ajwain), cumin (jeera), black pepper, fennel seeds (saunf) and cardamom to your foods and drinks to promote bowel movement and prevent constipation.
