5 tips to drive safely in snow

The winter season is an excellent time to plan a trip to the mountains with your friends and family to witness snowfall.

If you are planning a road trip to the mountains this winter season, here are some tips for driving safely in the snow.

Check weather forecast

Keep a track of the weather conditions before starting your journey to ensure safety. Pack all your important items and stay prepared for harsh weather conditions.

Get servicing done

Take your vehicle for servicing before the trip to ensure your car or bike is in a proper condition to drive in harsh weather like rains, hailstorms, or snowfall. Fill your fuel tank, as finding a fuel station on the way can be difficult.

Stick to a single-lane

Avoid switching lanes while driving in snow. It can be dangerous for your vehicle as well as other vehicles. A sudden change of lanes can confuse drivers behind and lead to accidents.

Use fog lights

Besides using headlights, it is essential to use fog lights when the visibility is low due to fog or smog on the way. Fog lights help see through the fog and improve visibility.

Use hand brakes or anti-lock brakes

Your vehicle's tyres can skid on the snow, and pushing the brake pedal under such circumstances can be insufficient. In such cases, use the hand brake or anti-lock brakes to avoid accidents.
