5 Mysterious Ghost Towns to Visit in India

Fatehpur Sikri: A UNESCO World Heritage Site that was the capital of the Mughal Empire in the 16th century. It was abandoned due to a lack of water. 

Dhanushkodi: A former tourist town on Pamban Island, Tamil Nadu, that was destroyed by a cyclone in 1964. A few fishermen still live there. 

Lakhpat: A former port city on the Kutch peninsula that was abandoned after an earthquake in 1819. 

Ross Island: The former administrative center of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands that was abandoned after an earthquake in 1941. 

Shettihalli: A town in Karnataka that was once known for its coffee estates. The ruins of the Rosary Church, built by French missionaries, are partially submerged in water.
