Republic Day parade 2024: 7 interesting facts to know

The Constitution was adopted on 26 January 1950, making India a sovereign and a republic state. Each year, this day is celebrated as Republic Day throughout the country to commemorate India's adoption of the Constitution.

This year marks India's 75th Republic Day celebration. 

Every year the day is observed with a parade at the Kartavya Path in New Delhi. Here is a look at 7 interesting facts about the parade. 

The main themes for this year’s women-centric parade will be ‘Viksit Bharat’ and ‘Loktantra ki Matrika’.

President of France, Emmanuel Macron, will be visiting India as the Chief Guest for the 75th Republic Day celebrations.

The preparation for the parade kickstart in July.

Participants assemble by 3 AM on the day of the final event.

A 21-gun salute is given when the President of India unfurls the national flag.

The first gunshot is fired when the national anthem begins. The second shot is followed after 52 seconds.

This year, the audience will witness a stunning display of tableaux from states, Union territories and nine ministries and departments.
