Mohan Yadav named chief minister of Madhya Pradesh

The Bharatiya Janata Party, on December 11, 2023 named Mohan Yadav, MLA from Ujjain South, as the chief minister of Madhya Pradesh. 

Mohan Yadav was named as the leader of BJP legislative party at a meeting held at the BJP headquarters in Bhopal. 

Yadav will be the fifth chief minister of Madhya Pradesh from the BJP after Sunderlal Patwa, Uma Bharti, Babulal Gaur and Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

Union minister Narendra Singh Tomar has been announced as the new assembly speaker.

Outgoing finance minister and two-time MLA Jagdish Devda from Mandsur and outgoing public relation minister MLA Rajendra Shukla from Rewa have been named as deputy chief ministers of Madhya Pradesh.

The naming of the elected ministers comes 10 days after the BJP swept the Madhya Pradesh Assembly election by winning 163 of 230 seats.
