Mizoram Assembly elections 2023: 5 key candidates 

Mizoram is among the five states to undergo assembly polls before the 2024 national elections. The Mizoram Assembly polls are underway and the results will be declared on December 3.

The northeastern state has been witnessing a strong contest between the regional Mizo National Front (MNF), the Zoram People's Movement (ZPM), the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Here are five key candidates among the ones fielded for the Mizoram Assembly polls 2023.

Zoramthanga

Mizo National Front (MNF)

The MNF party leader and the incumbent chief minister of Mizoram, Zoramthanga is contesting from the Aizawl East-I seat and is competing against Congress candidate Lalsanglura Ralte and ZPM's vice president Lalthansanga.

Lalsawta

Congress

Mizoram Congress chief and former state finance minister Lalsawta is contesting from Aizawl West-III against ZPM candidate ZL Zaithanzama and MNF candidate K Sawmvela.

Lalduhoma

Zoram People's Movement (ZPM)

ZPM founder and former IPS officer Lalduhoma is contesting elections from the Serchhip constituency against Congress' R Vanlaltluanga and MNF's debutant candidate J Malsawmzual Vanchhawng.

Vanlalhmuaka

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)

BJP state unit president Vanlalhmuaka is contesting from the Dampa constituency against MNF's Lalrintluanga Sailo, Congress' Lalhmingthanga Sailo and ZPM's Vanlalsailova.

Tawnluia

Mizo National Front (MNF)

Mizoram deputy chief minister and MNF vice president, Tawnluia is contesting from the Tuichang constituency against ZPM's W Chhuanawma.
