King Charles cancer diagnosis: Key points from Buckingham Palace statement

Buckingham Palace announced on February 1 that King Charles of Britain has been diagnosed with cancer and is undergoing treatment for the same.

Here are 5 important takeaways from the Buckingham Palace's statement.

The statement did not specify the type of cancer. However, it has clarified that it is not related to the prostate.

King Charles has been advised by doctors to "postpone public-facing duties."

King Charles will, however, continue to undertake State business and official paperwork, according to the official statement.

The decision to make the cancer diagnosis public was to "prevent speculation"' and to help "assist public understanding for all those around the world who are affected by cancer," the statement added.

King Charles is grateful to his medical team for their "swift intervention" and continues to "remain wholly positive" about his ongoing treatment.

The news of King Charles' cancer diagnosis comes weeks after His Majesty spent three nights in the hospital for a corrective procedure related to an enlarged prostate.

World leaders including UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Joe Biden wished King Charles a speedy recovery.
