Delhi Flood: Yamuna Crosses 208.48 Meters Mark

The water level of Yamuna in Delhi crossed the mark of 208.48 meters on July 13

Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal urged the Centre to intervene and ensure that the water released from Haryana's Hathnikund barrage is slowed

The Yamuna water level on Wednesday broke the last record of 207.49 meters which was recorded on September 6, 1978

Monastery Market and Majnu ka Tila in north Delhi, Mayur Vihar Phase I and Geeta Colony in east Delhi, and multiple portions of Ring Road near Kashmere Gate in old Delhi were among the places inundated with the flood water on Wednesday

16,500 people from six districts were evacuated on Wednesday and housed in 2,500 relief camps

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) also issued an advisory saying that because of the rising water levels of the Yamuna, trains over Yamuna bridges are restricted to a speed of 30 kmph as a precautionary measure

The Delhi Police imposed Section 144 in flood prone areas of the national capital on July 12
