Assembly elections 2023: ECI announces schedule

The Election Commission of India (ECI) announced the poll schedule for the upcoming Legislative Assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Telangana and Mizoram

Madhya Pradesh will elect legislators for 230, Rajasthan for 200, Telangana for 119, Chhattisgarh for 90 and Mizoram for 40 constituencies

ECI Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar presented a brief overview of electors in a press conference. He said that around 16 crore electors will vote in the poll-bound states, which is 1/6th of the total electors in the country

He added that around 60 lakh first-time voters will be able to participate in the assembly elections scheduled to take place in the five states

The top official said that polls in these election bound states hold a unique significance before the National Elections in 2024

Mizoram Assembly election is slated to be held on November 7, 2023

Chhattisgarh Assembly election will be held in two phases. The first phase will be held on November 7 and the second phase will be held on November 17

Telangana Assembly election are scheduled to be held on November 30, 2023

Counting of votes for the Assembly elections of all the five states will be held on December 3, 2023

ECI Chief also said that citizens can report any kind of electoral malpractice to the ECI through the cVigil App. He said, for every complaint, there will be a response in 100 mins
