Aditya-L1 solar mission: Detailed schedule

The launch of India's first solar observatory mission is set to take place on September 2 at 11:50 hrs IST from Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota

The Aditya-L1 mission is aimed at studying solar activities and its effect on space weather

Here's a detailed schedule of the solar mission Aditya-L1

ISRO's PSLV XL rocket will launch the Aditya L1 mission from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre SHAR (SDSC-SHAR), Sriharikota

The spacecraft will be first positioned in a low Earth orbit

Gradually, the orbit will be modified to obtain a more elliptical trajectory

Aditya-L1's payload will utilise the onboard propulsion and it will then propel towards the Lagrange point. During this moment,  the spacecraft will exit the Earth's gravitational Sphere of Influence (SOI)

After breaking free from Earth's gravitational pull, the mission's cruise phase will begin

Ultimately, the spacecraft will be inserted into a spacious halo orbit surrounding the Lagrange point (L1) of the Sun-Earth system, 1.5 million km from Earth

The journey of the Aditya L1 mission from its launch to its arrival at the halo orbit around the Lagrange point (L1) has been estimated to span four months
