Study abroad checklist: Here are 7 essential items that you will need to carry

Are you moving abroad soon for higher education? Here are some of the essential items that you will need during your stay as per QS Top Universities.

1. Before you depart for your study abroad destination, make sure to check if your passport will remain valid during the duration of your stay, well in advance. Most countries require at least six months extra on your passport beyond the end of your studies.

2.  Ensure to carry your student visa while moving to your chosen destination of study to be allowed in the country for the full length of study.

3.  If you have been selected for a scholarship, you must not forget to bring a printout of your scholarship letter along with other important documents. 

4. Purchase travel insurance that will cover anything odd that happens to you during your studies, whether it be illness, injury, or even theft.

5. Procure an International Student Identity Card (ISIC) as it will offer discounts on products and services that you may be requiring as an international student. ISIC is given by the International Student Travel Confederation.

6.   It is always advisable to carry a copy of your medical records, particularly if you need ongoing care.
