From programming fundamentals to automata theory, check out the 5 important online courses that aspirants can consider pursuing.

This course is offered by the Stanford School of Humanities and Sciences and dwells on the basics of R: a free programming language and software environment used for statistical computing and graphics, widely used by data analysts, statisticians, and data scientists around the world.

R Programming Fundamentals

Also offered by the Stanford School of Humanities and Sciences this self-paced course consists of a non-math-heavy class, wherein methods are described without heavy reliance on formulas and complex mathematics. It focuses on regression and classification methods.

Statistical Learning with R

Offered by the Stanford Graduate School of Education, this course is for candidates who have a strong background in NGSS, wherein they will be taught a rigorous process of analysis and revision of a performance task or how to use student data to validate a task, among others.

Performance Assessment in the NGSS Classroom: Course 1

This course is offered by the Stanford School of Engineering and focuses on the concept of finite automata. Candidates should feel comfortable with mathematics and proofs to pursue the course, as stated by Stanford.

Automata Theory

Offered by the Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability, this is an interdisciplinary course that encompasses the fields of rock mechanics, structural geology, earthquake seismology, and petroleum engineering to address a wide range of geomechanical problems that arise during the exploitation of oil and gas reservoirs.
